A Little Fall Foliage

Fall foliage

  • I have always loved the Fall colors. They make me feel warm and cozy. Some of the colors in this card reflex that. I’m sure however those of you that are experiencing the July heat may not appreciate warm and cozy right now :)
  • I started with a 8 1/2 x 5 1/ 2 very vanilla base. The DSP is from Comfort Cafe. I also used summer starfruit and lucky limeade.
  • I stamped the leaf image from Lovely as a Tree stamp set using summer starfruit ink. This gave it a nice subtle pattern that goes well with the DSP.
  • I used the Adorning Accent Edgelits to create the scalloped edge on the bottom of the summer starfruit. A strip of lucky limeade put in the Square Lattice Folder and zipped through the big shot gives a nice substitute for ribbon.

  • I stamped the Oak leaves on to very vanilla and colored it using summer starfruit, old olive and tangerine tango. I put dimensionals on the back and added it to the flag strips. A colored bow adds a nice splash of color.

TriShutter Card Meets Floral District

Trshutter card

Boy this trishutter card was somethings I had never tried before. It scared me a little bit. I thought if colors and patterns weren’t thought out well a card like this could be a disaster. I’m very proud of how my first one turned out. I watched a YouTube tutorial or I would have been completely lost..lol

  • I started with a 5 1/2″ x 12″ base in Rose red. I scored the paper at 2″, 4″,  8″ and 10″. I placed it in the cutter and cut on the 2″ score line down to the 10″ score line I did the same on the 4″ score line.
  • I  selected the rest of my color scheme and determined what pattern I would put where. I used the Floral District designer paper and the Baja Breeze and Whispering white card stock for a nice balance. The white what the backing for all the papers.

Trishutter card

  • I began the assembly on the front of the card first creating a cohesive look. A nice bow in the bottom corner. Sweet butterflies from the butterfly wings embosslits flying up to the sentiment. Pearls accented their bodied.
  • When the front was finished I added the rest of the pieces including a sentiment and a flower for the inside. I know exactly who is going to get this card.

I hope you enjoyed seeing my example of a trishutter card. Please leave a comment below and feel free to share it with others, thanks!

Subtle and Warm Colors for this Sketch

Freshly Made sketches

I liked how this card turned out using these warm colors. I think the simplicity goes well for this weeks Freshly Made Sketch. I’m real fond of the Comfort Cafe DSP but had not used much of the soft suede colors. I’m pleased.

Sketch 41

  • I started with the base using Soft Suede. Both Pattern papers are from the Comfort Cafe. They coordinate beautifully together. I love that the Stampin’ Up! products all work together.

  • I used the frame stamp from the Papaya Collage set on very vanilla. I cut the frame out as well as another piece of very vanilla for the center. It made it easier to stamp. I stamped the butterfly in Midnight Muse and cut that out. I added a couple pearls for some simple elegance. The sentiment was from Faith in Nature.

There is still time to play along in the Freshly Made challenge. I would love to read your comment so please post them below.

Simply Betsy’s Blossoms

Betsy's Blossoms

The stamp set Betsy’s Blossoms is so versatile I wanted to use the sweet bird for the Freshly Made Sketches. This weeks sketch was created so you could quickly whip up a fantastic card.

I wished I had had an oval die for this but I didn’t. I used an old stencil and cut it out the old fashion way with scissors.

  • I cut out whispering white and edged it with Daffodil Delight and then stamped the bird from Betsy’s blossoms on it using Rich Razzleberry. The designer paper is the new Floral District
  • Rich Razzleberry was used on the top half of the card. I used the perfect polka dot folder to create some texture to match the DSP.
  • Butterflies come from the Beautiful wings Embosslits. I added a rhinestone for they’re bodies and for embellishments up in the top right corner.
  • Sentiment is from the Curly Cute set.

I hope you have enjoyed this challenge design. I would love hear your thought below in the comments section and be sure to share it, Thanks!

Elegant Lines For Mojo Monday Challenge

Elegant Lines folder

I know, I know it’s Wednesday but it’s not to late to play the Mojo Monday Challenge. You have until Sunday June 24 to submit your entry. This was a simple yet elegant card to make and could be used for just about any occasion.

  • I stayed with an easy black and whispering white color combination and diverted from squares to circles on the right side.
  • I used the Elegant Lined folder on the left panel and added a few rhinestones for some bling. Can you see the embossing? All those curves and swirls…weeee

  • I punched out 1 inch circles and then used the butterfly die and used the butterfly with the embossed circles on them. Again a few rhinestones for the body for some sparkle. The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes and it fit down there perfectly.

I hope you like this Mojo Monday example. If so please leave me a comment below.

A Bright Hello With Boho Blossoms

I can’t believe it has been a week since I posted last and it was for this exact challenge Freshly Made Sketches challenge. I think I have mentioned this before I absolutely love the simplicity of these designs. Be sure to play along sometime.

Sketch 39

  • I used the Summer Smooches designer paper and the coordinating card stock. Stampin’ Up! makes it so easy to insure papers compliment each other.
  • The label Collection Framelits are so versatile. They are wonderful backdrops for words and designs.

  • The Boho Blossoms punch is great for small flowers. I love how they can be layered. You can use designer paper and add a solid color for the center for something different.
  • I used the square lattice embossing folder to create some interest and texture. The leaves pull it nicely together.
  • The sentiment Hello was heat embossed

Stamping Shabby Chic Style

shabby Chic style

I really do love the look of shabby chic and am glad Stampin’ Up! has some new stamp sets that help create the look. This card is styling the new stamp set Papaya Collage. I’ve had so much fun using this set so far, a lot of possibilities.

  • I started with the base card stock in crumb cake and stamped it with the En Francais stamp and crumb cake ink. I sponged the edges with Early Espresso.
  • The next layer I took a piece of Pink Piroutte ran it through the big shot in the Vintage Wallpaper folder. I tore the edges and sponged over the whole piece to highlight the embossing.
  • I used the frame stamp from the Papaya Collage set and snipped it out. On top of that is designer series paper  First Edition Specialty. I tore out a piece and again inked it with the Early Espresso.
  • Over that is Very Vanilla and I stamped the flower images with crumb cake, Pink Piroutte and Wild Wasabi.

shabby chic

  • I stamped the butterfly and bird. I then snipped them out adhering them with dimensionals to get them to pop. Pearls make up the body of the butterfly. The ribbon I used is a wire ribbon not from Stampin’ Up!

A Challenge Using New Stampin’ Up! Products

stamping 411 challenge

Hi Friends!

Another challenge to get the ideas flowing. This challenge comes from Stamping 411 with an awesome design team. I like that the card is square and a little smaller than I usually make.

stamping411

  • It starts off with a 4 1/2 x 4 1/2 base card. I used Rose Red card stock but it doesn’t look as rose in the picture as it is in person.
  • My designer paper is Floral District and whispering white on top. I used the embossing fold Perfect Polka Dots on the white for interest.
  • The focal point on the right was from the stamp set Papya Collage. I snipped out the bird by hand and used the bird builder punch for the branch and leaves.

I hope that this inspires you to create your own card. Have fun with it and I welcome all comments below.
